Susan Moriarity Miltko is a Montana civil litigation attorney who handles trials and appeals throughout the state. Her practice includes general negligence and tort litigation, professional malpractice, construction litigation, commercial disputes, governmental liability, insurance coverage, and defense of insurance bad faith claims. She represents clients in complex civil matters that require careful factual development, legal analysis, and courtroom preparation. Her work spans both state and federal courts and includes significant trial and appellate advocacy.
Susan earned a J.D. from Northwestern University Law School in 1995 and a B.A. in Government and International Relations, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 1991. During law school, she served as an articles editor for the Northwestern University Law Review, which published her article on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. She also interned with the American Dental Association’s Department of Legal Affairs, adding practical legal experience to her academic training.
Susan has successfully tried numerous cases in Montana state and federal courts and also handles appeals. Her litigation work includes negligence and tort claims, professional malpractice, construction disputes, commercial litigation, governmental liability, insurance coverage, and bad faith defense. This range of experience allows her to address disputes involving businesses, professionals, government entities, insurers, and other parties while moving cases through discovery, trial preparation, courtroom proceedings, and appellate review when necessary.
Susan Moriarity Miltko was the third Montana woman elected to the American Board of Trial Advocates. She is also active in the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers and the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary. Her community service has included board positions with Watson Children’s Shelter, Missoula Catholic Schools, Spirit at Play Early Child Center, and the Montana State Bar New Lawyers Section. Her practice reflects substantial courtroom experience, appellate knowledge, and long-standing involvement in Montana’s legal community.
