Tim R. Shattuck is a highly skilled litigation and intellectual property attorney. As a shareholder at Woods Fuller, he has represented clients in complex legal matters since 1994. With a focus on litigation, intellectual property, and trust disputes, Tim has built a strong reputation for handling high-stakes cases. Tim earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Augustana University and his J.D. from the University of Southern California, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He is admitted to practice in South Dakota, as well as the Federal District of South Dakota, the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.

With nearly three decades of experience, Tim has handled a broad range of litigation matters. He has extensive experience in covenants not to compete, representing both employers and employees in multiple states. He has also led trade secret lawsuits and successfully litigated patent infringement cases for both patentees and accused infringers across jurisdictions, including South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Tim R. Shattuck is highly experienced in trust litigation, an area of increasing importance in South Dakota’s trust-friendly jurisdiction. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, trying cases before judges and juries. His appellate experience includes arguments before the South Dakota Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
