About
Thomas R. Kline is a personal injury trial lawyer with more than four decades of courtroom experience. He has secured many seven- and eight-figure verdicts and settlements in medical malpractice, product liability, train-crash, civil rights, and child-safety cases. He serves clients across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, New York, and nationwide.
Tom graduated from Albright College and earned a master’s degree in American History from Lehigh University, where he completed all Ph.D. course work and examinations. He then earned his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law, where he received the school’s Distinguished Student Award.
Tom began his career as a sixth-grade social studies teacher before entering law. He later served as law clerk to Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Thomas W. Pomeroy. His legal practice grew at The Beasley Firm before he joined Shanin Specter in 1995 to open their own firm.
Tom’s awards include 22 straight years, 2004-2025, as the No. 1 attorney in Pennsylvania by Super Lawyers. He has been named a New Jersey Super Lawyer, Philadelphia Medical Malpractice Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers, and a Best of the Bar honoree by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Tom has led major cases involving Amtrak 188, Roundup, Risperdal, vaginal mesh, child sexual abuse, hazing, and medical injury. His work has helped secure large results and safety reforms. He also gave $50 million gifts to Duquesne University School of Law and Drexel University’s law school.
Thomas R. Kline is licensed in Pennsylvania and New York and admitted before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and other federal courts. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers.
