Thomas E. Gay is an experienced family law attorney who focuses his practice on divorce, domestic relations, and child custody matters. He represents individuals and families throughout Delaware, providing legal guidance and strong advocacy in cases that involve important personal and family decisions.
Thomas earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Delaware in 1987. He later attended Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1991 and participated in the Family Law Clinic through Delaware Volunteer Legal Services.
Thomas focuses his legal practice on family law matters, including divorce, domestic relations disputes, and child custody cases. Since being admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1994, he has represented clients across the state and handled many cases in the Delaware Family Court system.
Thomas began his legal career serving as a law clerk for the Honorable William N. Nicholas and the Honorable William J. Walls in the Family Court of the State of Delaware in Kent County. He later joined the law firm of Stumpf, Vickers & Sandy, P.A., where he worked from 1993 until 2017.
Thomas joined Ronald D. Phillips, Jr. in 2017 to form the Law Offices of Murray, Phillips & Gay. Throughout his career, he has developed extensive trial experience in Delaware Family Court and is known for dedicated advocacy on behalf of his clients.
Thomas has also been a guest speaker at legal programs such as “Fundamentals of Family Law,” “Custody Evaluations for the Private Practitioner,” “Property Division in the Family Court,” and “Divorce Law 101 – Obtaining the Best Settlement for Your Client in Delaware.”
Thomas E. Gay is a member of the Terry Carey American Inns of Court, the Delaware State Bar Association, the Maine State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association, reflecting his continued involvement in the legal profession.
