Thomas E. Dewhurst III

Thomas E. Dewhurst III is the founder of Dewhurst Law and maintains a general practice serving clients in New Hampshire and Maine. He focuses on municipal law, civil and criminal matters, business law, estate planning and trust administration, personal injury, construction and contract disputes, insurance matters, real estate transactions, and land use. A substantial part of his practice involves serving local and county governments as general or special counsel.

Tom earned his J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center, now the University of New Hampshire School of Law, in 1986. He received a B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of New Hampshire in 1983, with a minor in Business Management. He also completed a certificate through The George Washington University College of Trial Advocacy in 1995. This training supports his practical approach to litigation, government matters, transactions, and client counseling.

Tom founded his law office in October 1988 and has developed broad experience in public service, prosecution, law enforcement, and private practice. He served as Carroll County Attorney in 2011 and 2012, supervising a four-attorney office responsible for felony prosecutions, jury trials, circuit court appeals, and misdemeanor appeals. He also served as municipal prosecutor for the Jackson Police Department, worked as a Conway police officer, and prosecuted matters for Carroll County and the Dover Police Department.

Thomas E. Dewhurst III has been admitted in New Hampshire and Maine since 1987 and has remained active in state and local bar organizations. He is a past president of the Carroll County Bar Association and previously served as Carroll County Governor. His community involvement has included the North Conway Rotary Club, North Conway Public Library, North Conway Fire Department, and North Conway Ambulance. His combined legal and public service background helps clients address complex matters with practical judgment and local insight.
