Thomas C. Mayes, Jr. is a highly dedicated trial lawyer with deep experience in personal injury law. He believes the right to a jury trial is the foundation of justice in civil cases. Thomas earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law. While there, he served as an elected representative in the Student Bar Association and vice president of the Health Law Association. He also earned the top grade in his Wills & Trusts class.
Thomas began his legal career at a personal injury firm, where he managed a docket of 100 cases and led a team of attorneys. He focused on premises liability and regularly achieved six-figure settlements in difficult slip-and-fall cases. His legal work also includes experience in multi-district litigation and serving as a deputy city attorney for six different Texas cities.
Before entering law full-time, Thomas worked as a lobbyist and local government official for ten years. He represented various clients, including counties, cities, universities, and housing authorities. He successfully pushed for important public health and environmental laws at both the state and national levels. His advocacy work was recognized when he was named Community Advocate of the Year by Mothers Against Drunk Driving in 2019.
Thomas C. Mayes, Jr. also spent over a decade in the field of political consulting, managing dozens of campaigns across several states. He is especially proud of his work on initiatives that helped raise the minimum wage and protect public resources. Thomas is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and is an active member of the State Bar of Texas. He continues using his broad experience and strong advocacy skills to help clients nationwide.
