Ted earned his B.S. in 1972 with a Major Political Science from East Texas University, followed by his J.D. in 1975 from Southern Methodist University School of Law. Ted was appointed Special Prosecutor for the State of Texas in 2010 following a Dallas County recusal. Serving as District Attorney Pro Tem, he obtained and prosecuted felony indictments against several county officials, including a sitting Constable, two Deputy Constables, and a former elected Dallas County Constable during complex investigations.
