Tara L. Cragen

Tara L. Cragen is an attorney who helps people with legal problems in criminal defense and family law. She works with clients in many Indiana counties, including Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Hancock, Bartholomew, and Brown. Her goal is to guide people through tough situations with steady support and clear advice.

Tara earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis in 2011. She went on to receive her J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. While in law school, she was on the board of the Family Law Society and volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), showing early commitment to helping families.

Tara handles many family law issues, such as divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, parenting time, guardianships, paternity, prenuptial agreements, and relocation cases. She works closely with her clients, offering steady guidance through each step of the legal process, helping them understand their rights and options.

In her criminal defense work, Tara handles both misdemeanor and felony charges. These include drug offenses, domestic violence, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She also helps with expungement cases and protective orders, giving clients a chance to move forward with a clean record when possible.

Tara L. Cragen passed the Indiana Bar exam before she finished law school and became licensed to practice in state courts just days after graduating. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. She has been named a Rising Star by Indiana Super Lawyers from 2022 to 2025, earning respect for her strong work and commitment to the people she serves.
