Tanya D. Jeffords

Tanya D. Jeffords is a dedicated trial lawyer who represents clients in criminal law, family law, employment and labor law, personal injury law, and civil rights litigation. She is known for strong courtroom advocacy and steady guidance during difficult times. Tanya approaches every case with careful preparation and a deep commitment to protecting her clients’ rights.

Tanya earned her undergraduate degree from Augusta State University. She later pursued her legal education at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law. In 2001, she completed her Juris Doctorate. Her academic background laid the foundation for a career focused on litigation, public service, and client-centered representation across Georgia and South Carolina.

Tanya began her legal career serving as a federal judicial law clerk for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. There, she worked on complex civil litigation matters, including employment discrimination cases. She later practiced litigation with a focus on railroad defense, insurance defense, and employment and labor law, building strong courtroom experience.

Tanya gained substantial trial experience as a public defender in the Augusta Judicial Circuit, where she handled both civil and criminal cases. She successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Georgia. She was instrumental in developing the process for the Augusta Judicial Circuit Drug Court program and serves as the defense lawyer for Drug Court.

Tanya D. Jeffords has received several honors, including being named one of the Top Young Attorneys in Georgia by Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine in 2011. She was recognized as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers in 2012 and one of the Top 100 National Black Lawyers in 2015. She also received the State Hero Award from the Judicial Council and Administrative Office of the Courts for outstanding service to the accountability courts of Georgia.
