Tammy Jaques is an of counsel attorney with broad experience in Florida criminal law. She began in the criminal justice system before becoming a lawyer. Her work has included probation, prosecution, appeals, homicide cases, defense, mediation, training, and leadership in offices handling serious criminal matters.

Tammy earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida in 1990, with a major in Criminal Justice and Sociology. She earned her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law in 2000, where she held honors with Gator TeamChild.

Tammy first worked four years as a Correctional Probation Officer for the Florida Department of Corrections. She supervised adult felony offenders on probation, community control, parole, and controlled release. This role taught her how to manage large caseloads and understand many parts of the criminal justice system.

Tammy served as a certified legal intern for Gator TeamChild while in law school. She helped juvenile clients with education law, juvenile delinquency and dependency, emancipation, child custody, federal civil rights claims for incarcerated children, appellate issues, and other civil matters involving young people and families.

Tammy later interned for the Office of the State Attorney for the 18th Judicial Circuit in Sanford, Florida. She handled misdemeanor cases, including DUI, domestic violence, and drug possession. She then handled felony criminal appeals for the Office of the Attorney General in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Tammy continued building trial experience with the Office of the State Attorney, Seventh Judicial Circuit. She worked in the Misdemeanor Division, Felony Drug Unit, Sexual Assault Response Team, Career Criminal Unit, and Homicide Investigations Unit. She also became Division Chief and Managing Attorney for the DeLand Office.

Tammy Jaques also has criminal defense experience, including private defense work and over five years as Assistant Regional Conflict Counsel. She has trained as a Certified Family Law Mediator, Certified Appellate Mediator, and Qualified Parenting Coordinator. She has also lectured nurses, prosecutors, and law enforcement agencies.
