Matt Thompson

Matt Thompson is a criminal defense attorney and a fourth-generation Florida native from Lakeland. His respect for Florida’s laws shaped his path into law. Today, he serves Central Florida clients through Thompson Law, P.A., where he provides focused defense, clear guidance, and personal attention in serious criminal cases.

Matt earned a B.S. in Political Science from Florida State University. He later earned his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. His education gave him a strong legal foundation and prepared him to serve people facing difficult legal problems.

Matt began his legal career at the Office of the State Attorney in DeLand, Florida. During six years as a prosecutor, he gained valuable trial experience. He handled cases involving driving under the influence, narcotics possession and sale, driver’s license violations, career criminal cases, sex crimes, and homicides.

Matt also spent two years as an Associate Attorney in a civil litigation firm. In that role, he handled real estate transactions, including foreclosures and landlord/tenant disputes, personal injury litigation, contract formation and litigation, and family law matters. This work helped expand his legal knowledge and practical experience.

Matt earned the honor of being named a “Rising Star” in Florida’s “Super Lawyers” magazine for 2013, 2014, and 2015. This award reflects the respect he earned during his legal career and shows his dedication to strong, careful, and client-focused legal representation.

Matt founded Thompson Law, P.A., to serve the citizens of Central Florida. The firm combines an innovative legal approach with old-fashioned values. As a small firm, it gives clients personal attention, simple explanations, and a clear understanding of the legal process from start to finish.
