Sunitha earned a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and later obtained a Juris Doctorate from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her academic background provided a strong legal foundation and prepared her to begin practicing law in multiple jurisdictions with confidence and skill.
Sunitha began her legal career in Canada before relocating to California, where she gained admission to the California State Bar. She practiced in Los Angeles for thirteen years, handling a range of legal matters. Her experience across different regions has strengthened her ability to approach cases with a broad and informed perspective.
Sunitha has practiced family law and estate planning in the Pacific Northwest since 2008. Her work also includes experience in criminal law and civil litigation, allowing her to understand legal issues from multiple angles. She is known for addressing complex family dynamics and offering clear, balanced legal guidance.
Sunitha has been actively involved in legal and community efforts, including service on the WSBA Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council and the Board of Domestic Relations Attorneys of Washington. She has also contributed her time to the Kinship Care Project and the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, supporting individuals in need.
Sunitha was named 2025 Woman of the Year by Seattle University School of Law and the Womxn’s Law Caucus in collaboration with the Womxn of Color Coalition. She has also served in leadership roles within the Washington State Bar Association, including stepping into the role of President during her term.
