Stephen R. Cornwell

Stephen R. Cornwell is a highly respected Fresno personal injury attorney with more than four decades of experience. He has tried over 150 cases and is widely recognized as one of the San Joaquin Valley’s most accomplished plaintiff’s lawyers. Stephen earned his Bachelor of Science degree from San José State in 1964 and his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley – Boalt Hall in 1967. He began his career as a prosecutor in the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office before joining McCormick, Barstow, Sheppard, Coyle & Best in 1970, where he gained extensive experience in civil trials.

Throughout his career, Stephen has successfully represented clients in negligence, employment law, premises liability, product liability, and professional liability matters. He has also held key leadership positions, including serving as Chair of both Defense and Plaintiff Steering Committees in high-profile, landmark cases.

Stephen’s advocacy has reached the California Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court.
