Stefan J. Erwin

Stefan J. Erwin is the founder and managing attorney of a Union County, New Jersey, trial practice that represents individuals and businesses in criminal defense, civil litigation, personal injury, DWI, motor vehicle offenses, and Megan’s Law matters. He works with clients facing charges, lawsuits, business disputes, and other high-stakes legal problems. His practice combines courtroom preparation, direct communication, and practical guidance for clients across New Jersey.

Mr. Erwin earned his J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law in 2012. He also received two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Rutgers University in 2009, one in Political Science and one in Criminal Justice. During law school, he participated in the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project fellowship and interned with the Hon. Noel L. Hillman of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Mr. Erwin’s experience includes public defender service, municipal prosecution, civil rights litigation, commercial litigation, and business leadership. As a public defender, he handled serious felony matters involving arson, aggravated assault, white-collar crime, sexual assault, theft, robbery, burglary, weapons offenses, drug charges, terroristic threats, and probation violations. He later represented major New Jersey cities in complex civil litigation involving civil rights, police misconduct, employment law, and personal injury.

Stefan J. Erwin is admitted in New Jersey and New York, and before several federal courts, and he serves as a Prosecutor for Union Township. He is also affiliated with professional organizations, including the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the Union County Bar Association. Mr. Erwin brings trial-focused judgment to each matter and helps clients understand risk, strategy, and realistic legal options.
