Stanley D. Monroe has been a dedicated legal advocate since 1978, known for his work in criminal defense and civil rights litigation. With a passion for upholding the Constitution, he defends clients facing anything from minor traffic violations to capital offenses, while also representing plaintiffs in tort and civil rights cases.
Stanley earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1975. He then obtained his Juris Doctorate with honors in 1978 from the University of Tulsa School of Law. This strong educational foundation shaped his commitment to both legal excellence and the protection of individual rights.
Stanley began his legal journey at the Public Defender’s office, where he developed a deep understanding of courtroom advocacy. He later built a solo practice and continued to defend the accused while taking on impactful civil rights claims. His firm belief in due process and team-based representation remains a cornerstone of his approach.
Stanley is licensed to practice in Oklahoma state courts, all federal districts in Oklahoma, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also served on several prestigious committees, including the Federal Public Defender and U.S. Magistrate Selection Committees.
Stanley was honored as the Oklahoma Bar Association Criminal Law Section’s Defender of the Year in 2011 and has been an Oklahoma Super Lawyer since 2007. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and serves as Vice-Chair for its Oklahoma chapter. His dedication has earned him Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating.
