Slate Stern is a Santa Fe, New Mexico attorney who represents clients in personal injury, business litigation, and property rights matters. With more than three decades of legal experience, he handles serious accident and injury claims, business disputes, and legal transactions in state and federal courts. His practice also includes disputes involving real estate boundaries, water rights, and other property concerns that arise in northern New Mexico.
Stern earned a J.D. from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1994 after receiving a B.A. in English from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986. He later completed an M.A. through the Great Books program at St. John’s College in 2000. His academic background, combined with earlier business experience, supports a practice that blends courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and practical analysis of legal and commercial issues.
Stern’s work includes representing injured clients in matters involving motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, and other serious injury claims. He also represents clients in business litigation and property rights disputes and has experience with legal transactions. Slate Stern has served as Assistant Disciplinary Counsel to the New Mexico Supreme Court’s Disciplinary Committee and has authored ethics opinions for the State Bar of New Mexico. He has also served on nonprofit boards, including the New Mexico School for the Arts Foundation.
