Shawn M. Turner

Shawn M. Turner is a partner at Holland & Knight’s Denver office, co-chair of the firm’s Capital Markets Group, and a Financial Services Practice Group member. He advises public and private companies, focusing on financial services, corporate governance, risk management, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. He also works closely with boards of directors and senior executives to develop strategies for managing complex financial and corporate challenges.

Turner earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He also holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University and a B.A. from Hanover College. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Ohio.

With deep expertise in financial regulation, Turner works closely with state and federal financial institutions and regulatory agencies. He advises strategic buyers and targets on M&A takeover strategies, regulatory approvals, and risk management. Turner has led numerous high-profile financial transactions, including a deal recognized as the USA Corporate M&A Deal of the Year (Large Mid-Market) at the 2021 M&A Atlas Awards.

Throughout his career, Turner has received numerous honors, including being named Top Lawyer in Banking by 5280 Magazine in 2022, 40 Under 40 by the Denver Business Journal in 2018, and Barrister’s Best Banking Lawyer by Law Week Colorado in 2016. He has also been recognized as a Colorado Super Lawyers Rising Star multiple times.
