Shakera Thompson

Shakera Thompson is the founder of TKA Law Firm and a business and intellectual property lawyer. She provides fractional general counsel services and advises companies on contracts, financing, acquisitions, intellectual property, and brand-related decisions. Her background includes corporate practice at a Wall Street law firm, giving her experience with large transactions and sophisticated financing matters that now informs her work with growing businesses, founders, and established companies.

Thompson earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from Howard University School of Law, where she graduated second in her class, served as Managing Editor of the Howard Law Journal, and received CALI awards in numerous courses. She earned her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University. She also completed Harvard Business School Online’s CORe program with honors, adding business-focused study to her legal training.

Thompson has worked on major corporate transactions, including Disney’s multibillion-dollar sale of regional sports networks and Fox College Sports to Sinclair, Pitney Bowes’ sale of a software business, Dataxu’s sale to Roku, and WeWork’s acquisition of Prolific Interactive. Her experience also includes venture financings, securities offerings, secured credit facilities, acquisition financings, debt transactions, and other corporate matters requiring detailed deal management and contract analysis.
