Scott Taylor is the founder of Taylor Defense Firm in San Luis Obispo, California, where he focuses on criminal defense and military legal representation. With over a decade of courtroom experience, he offers aggressive advocacy paired with genuine care for his clients’ futures. He is known for treating every case with attention, strategy, and commitment.

Taylor began his academic journey at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2002. He then earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. His legal journey began with the Missouri Public Defender’s Office in Kansas City, where he defended clients facing serious felony and misdemeanor charges. His early exposure to intense caseloads taught him perseverance, courtroom skill, and client-centered service.

Taylor’s career expanded into military law when he commissioned into the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps. He was assigned to Vandenberg Air Force Base, where he prosecuted serious cases with a 100% conviction rate. Later, as Area Defense Counsel, he protected service members’ rights, defending them against both administrative and criminal proceedings.

Throughout his career, Taylor has handled a broad range of complex cases involving drug charges, violent crimes, and military misconduct. His work often involves helping clients navigate the justice system with dignity and fairness, especially those who feel overwhelmed or dismissed. He is driven to ensure every client receives a robust and principled defense.

Scott Taylor’s legal excellence has earned him multiple prestigious accolades throughout his career. He was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for three consecutive years (2016–2018), an honor reserved for top-rated attorneys under 40. In 2018, he was also recognized among the “Top 40 Lawyers Under 40” by the American Society of Legal Advocates.
