Scott attended Midwestern State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and graduated Magna Cum Laude. During his college years, he met his future wife while studying in Wichita Falls. After completing his undergraduate education, he earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech School of Law. His academic background helped prepare him for a career centered on litigation, public service, and constitutional protections.

Scott began practicing law at Legal Aid of Northwest Texas, where he represented individuals dealing with serious civil legal problems. His work included helping victims of domestic violence seek protection and assisting tenants facing unsafe housing conditions. He also represented consumers who had been harmed by predatory banking practices. This early experience gave him firsthand knowledge of how legal representation can directly improve people’s lives.

Scott later joined the Wichita County Public Defender’s Office, where he handled both felony and misdemeanor criminal matters. In that role, he represented clients in jury trials and worked to defend their Constitutional rights in court. His courtroom experience allowed him to challenge government overreach while advocating for fair treatment under the law. He developed practical litigation skills while managing complex criminal defense cases.
