Scott C. Stockwell

Scott C. Stockwell is an attorney with Ad Astra Legal LC who provides legal guidance in estate planning, probate, real estate, and business matters. He works with individuals, families, and businesses to help them make informed decisions and plan for the future with clarity and confidence.

Scott earned a Master of Business Administration from Arizona State University in 2015, with a focus on Marketing, Information Technology, and International Business. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1984 and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Pre-Law from Kansas State University in 1981.

Scott’s legal work focuses on helping clients address important personal and business decisions. His practice includes estate planning, probate administration, real estate matters, and business legal services. He guides clients through planning and legal processes while helping them understand options and make thoughtful long-term decisions.

Scott previously served at the Kansas Corporation Commission, where he held several leadership roles. As Director of the Utilities Division from 1987 to 1991, he oversaw the auditing, investigative, and natural gas pipeline safety staff and managed a $1 million annual budget with a 40-member team.

Scott has been active in professional and civic organizations for many years. He has been a member of the Douglas County Estate Planning Council since 2008 and serves on the core team of Code for Kansas City. He also co-leads the Code for KC and UMKC Law Clear My Record Project.

Scott has contributed to legal education as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Law, since 2019. He also served as Co-Chair of the Lawrence Business Education Partnership from 2000 to 2002 and was recognized as a Lawrence Public Schools Outstanding Citizen in 2001.
