Scott C. Barney

Scott C. Barney is a Baton Rouge partner who represents businesses in complex construction and commercial litigation. His practice includes product liability, toxic tort, premises liability, credit-related litigation, complex collections, and contract disputes. He advises owners, contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and design professionals. His work helps clients evaluate technical claims, manage project risks, protect commercial interests, and resolve disputes through litigation, arbitration, or negotiated settlement.

Barney earned his J.D. from Louisiana State University Law Center in 1992. He received a B.S. in Construction from Louisiana State University in 1987. During law school, he served on the Louisiana Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. After graduation, he clerked for Louisiana Supreme Court Justices Luther F. Cole and Catherine “Kitty” Kimball. His construction education and judicial experience support detailed legal and technical analysis.

Barney has represented clients involved with petrochemical refineries, manufacturing plants, funeral homes, apartment complexes, hospitals, hotels, healthcare facilities, office buildings, and commercial production sites.
