About

Sarah E. Josephson is a member and managing partner at Jermain, Dunnagan & Owens, P.C. in Anchorage who focuses primarily on labor and employment law. She serves as general counsel to labor unions and associations and also represents employers on workplace matters. Her practice includes collective bargaining, employee rights and grievances, compensation and benefits issues, employment agreements, wage and hour questions, and day-to-day guidance involving federal and state employment requirements.

Josephson earned a J.D. from Catholic University in 1996 and a B.A. from Goucher College in 1993. In law school, she served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Communications Law & Policy. She later clerked for a judge on the Alaska Superior Court and served for two years as a public defender in Kodiak. This background supports her work in negotiation, administrative proceedings, litigation, and practical workplace counseling.

Josephson represents clients before the National Labor Relations Board and the Alaska State Labor Relations Agency, including in unfair labor practice matters. She advises employers on hiring and firing decisions, FMLA and ADA issues, and employment agreements, and she defends employers against discrimination and other employment-related claims in Superior Court and before the EEOC. She also regularly speaks on employment law topics, including the FMLA and ADA.

Sarah E. Josephson combines management-side and labor-side experience with a broad understanding of workplace disputes and labor relations. Her practice requires close attention to bargaining obligations, employee rights, regulatory requirements, and litigation risk. She helps unions, associations, and employers address legal issues in a practical way while preparing for administrative proceedings, court disputes, and negotiations that can significantly affect workplace operations and employment relationships.
