Sarah E. Baron Houy, a member of Bangs McCullen since 2007, is a distinguished attorney practicing in employment law, civil litigation, federal criminal defense, and family law. Sarah is highly regarded for her expertise and ethical standards, evidenced by her AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Her commitment to the community is demonstrated through multiple recognitions, including Pro Bono Attorney of the Year awards from the PCBA in 2010-2011 and 2022 and the Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year in 2016.
Educationally, Sarah prepared for her legal career with a J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she graduated in the top 25% of her class in 2006, and a B.S. in Business Administration with a marketing emphasis from the University of South Dakota, graduating cum laude in 2002. Numerous accolades, including high-grade achievements in Estates and Trusts, Business Organizations, Insurance, and Trial Practice, marked her academic journey. After law school, Sarah enhanced her practical legal skills by clerking for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in northeast South Dakota.
Beyond her practice, Sarah E. Baron Houy is an active contributor to legal education. She has guest lectured for various law-related undergraduate courses and been a faculty member at numerous employment and labor-related legal seminars. Her leadership extends to her role on the Board of Directors for Children’s House Montessori, following her previous service on the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of the Black Hills.
