Ryan Sullivan

Ryan Sullivan is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Boston office, joining the firm in 2023. He focuses on complex litigation and brings experience from intellectual property disputes, appellate work, and trial-level matters. His background combines legal analysis with advanced technical training across courts and jurisdictions nationwide, as well as federal venues.

Ryan earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2019, where he served on the Virginia Law Review. He also holds an M.S. in Biomedical Informatics from Arizona State University, completed in 2011, and a B.S. in Mathematics from Arizona State University, completed in 2008.

Ryan completed multiple federal clerkships, gaining broad courtroom experience. He clerked for the Honorable Harris L Hartz on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, for the Honorable Cynthia M. Rufe in Pennsylvania, and for the Honorable Kirtan Khalsa in New Mexico, between 2020 and 2023.

Before clerking, Ryan worked as an intellectual property litigation associate at another global law firm. His matters involved technically complex disputes that required careful analysis of scientific concepts, patents, and data-driven evidence, supported by his training in natural language processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence within collaborative litigation teams.
