During law school, he was a Moot Court Board Member in 2004, showcasing his advocacy skills early in his career. In 2009, he further enhanced his trial expertise by graduating from the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College, one of the most prestigious trial advocacy programs in the country.

Ryan is a proven leader in South Dakota’s legal community, with a career defined by integrity, advocacy, and results. Elected to the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Board of Governors in 2009, he was honored as South Dakota Young Lawyer of the Year in 2010. A dedicated criminal defense attorney, Ryan founded the South Dakota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2009 and went on to serve as its president from 2013 to 2017. He later led the South Dakota Trial Lawyers Association as president from 2017 to 2018, further solidifying his reputation as a top trial lawyer and defender of clients’ rights.
