Ruthann P. Lacey is Of Counsel at Brightside Estate and Elder Law and is nationally recognized as a leader in elder law and special needs planning. With more than three decades of legal experience, she has built a distinguished career assisting individuals and families with estate planning, probate, disability planning, and elder care. She is one of only a select number of Certified Elder Law Attorneys in Georgia, a designation that underscores her extensive knowledge and experience in the field.
Lacey earned her B.A. in Music from Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois, before completing her J.D. at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. She is licensed to practice in Georgia and Washington, D.C. Her legal accomplishments include service as Secretary for the National Elder Law Foundation and charter membership in the Council of Advanced Practitioners.
Lacey’s reputation as a trusted elder law authority has been consistently recognized. In 2006, she became the first elder law attorney in Georgia to be named a Super Lawyer, an honor she has received every year since. She also holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest distinction for professional excellence and ethics. Beyond her client work, she has drafted legislation for the Georgia General Assembly, authored publications in respected legal journals, and has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal and the ABA Journal.
Ruthann P. Lacey is active in numerous professional organizations, including the Special Needs Alliance, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Elder Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association. She has also served in leadership roles within the Georgia Bar Association and continues to be a frequent lecturer at local, state, and national conferences. Through her work, Lacey has established herself as a trusted advocate and educator in elder law and estate planning.
