Ross E. Alexander is an experienced intellectual property attorney who has spent over a decade helping clients protect, manage, and leverage their innovations. His practice focuses on developing comprehensive IP strategies, including patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, litigation, and freedom-to-operate evaluations for companies operating across the tech spectrum.
Ross holds a J.D., cum laude, from Syracuse University School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Syracuse Law Review and Associate Editor of the Syracuse Science and Technology Law Reporter. He also earned a B.S., cum laude, in Computer Science and Political Science from the University of Indianapolis. Before becoming a lawyer, Ross worked in software development and IT, grounding his legal practice in real-world technical expertise.
Ross brings deep technical insight to his IP practice, having worked with clients in various fields, including machine learning, AI (including CNNs, RNNs, and ResNets), speech and image recognition, telecommunications, medical devices, IoT systems, and optical communications. He has successfully prosecuted patent applications across the U.S. and internationally, and regularly assists with litigation and licensing related to these technologies.
In addition to his prosecution work, Ross has substantial experience with invalidity and non-infringement opinions, competitive landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate studies, and due diligence for mergers and acquisitions. He has also supported post-grant proceedings, such as inter partes reviews and ex parte reexaminations, and contributed to invalidation proceedings in China.
Ross E. Alexander is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Rising Star by Super Lawyers in both 2018 and 2019.
