Rory T. Weiler

Rory T. Weiler concentrates his practice on family law, handling divorce, child custody disputes, appeals, and cases involving complex financial matters. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). His work often addresses high-conflict parenting issues and property division involving family and closely held businesses.

Rory earned his Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northern Illinois University in 1975. He then attended John Marshal Law School, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1979. While in law school, he served as a staff member of the John Marshall Journal of Practice and Procedure. In November 1979, he was admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court (Northern Illinois).

Rory has been recognized as one of the “Best Lawyers in America,” an Illinois “Super Lawyer,” and an Elite Lawyer. He is also a member of the Leading Lawyers Network. In 2001, he received the Kane County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award. He later earned the ISBA’s John C. McAndrews Pro Bono Service Award in 2005 and the national Legal Services Corporation certificate of appreciation in 2011.

Rory is active in the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), where he has served as chair of the ISBA Family Law Section Council and as co-editor of its monthly newsletter. He has held positions on the ISBA Assembly and Board of Governors, and he serves on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Bar Foundation. He also served on the AAML Illinois chapter Board of Directors and the Illinois Supreme Court’s Committee on Character and Fitness.

Rory T. Weiler has written and lectured widely on family law topics, including child custody litigation, financial issues in divorce, and trial practice. He authored “Divorce Tools and Techniques,” published by James Publishing Co. Through his leadership, writing, and advocacy, Rory continues to support families and advance access to legal services for those in need.
