Rodney earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Utah in 1997 before receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2000. His legal education prepared him for a practice centered on litigation, business matters, and civil advocacy.
Rodney began his legal career and joined Withers, Brant, Igoe & Mullennix in 2003 as a litigator, where he has continued to represent both injured individuals and defendants in civil litigation. He is admitted to practice in Missouri, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Clay County Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, where he previously served on the board of directors for the Kansas City Chapter.
