Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of North Dakota in 1994. He later completed his Juris Doctorate from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1997, establishing a solid academic foundation for his legal career.

Robert began his legal career in 1997, working with Legal Services of North Dakota in both New Town and Minot. Over time, he also operated his own practice in Minot, gaining valuable experience while serving a wide range of clients in different legal matters.
