About
Robert Nickerson is a Port Huron attorney with a broad practice that includes personal injury, wrongful death, family law, bankruptcy, probate, estate planning, real estate, and business matters. His injury work includes automobile accidents, slip-and-fall cases, dog bites, workplace negligence, bus accidents, and other claims involving serious harm. He has also handled will and trust litigation, divorce property disputes, and business-related matters, giving him experience with both personal legal problems and financial disputes that can require substantial negotiation or courtroom advocacy.
Nickerson earned a B.A. from Michigan State University and a J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. He has practiced in Michigan for decades and is admitted to courts that include the US District Court and US Supreme Court. His education was followed by public service and private practice roles that exposed him to criminal prosecution, county government, civil litigation, business matters, family disputes, and bankruptcy. That breadth allows him to evaluate cases involving several overlapping legal or financial issues rather than viewing a dispute through only one practice area.
Nickerson previously served as Prosecuting Attorney for St. Clair County and as corporation counsel for county government agencies. In private practice, he has represented individuals, municipalities, a credit union, and a bank in matters involving zoning, contracts, real estate, loan documents, collections, mortgages, and construction liens. He has also served as a court-appointed mediator and privately retained arbitrator for more than 30 years. His personal injury work includes settlements and claims involving accidents, wrongful death, workplace negligence, and other forms of preventable harm.
Robert Nickerson is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan and US Supreme Court Bar and has participated in professional groups related to family law, negligence, and bankruptcy. His community service has included leadership with the United Way, educational boards, the YMCA, and other local organizations. His career combines public service, civil litigation, mediation, business representation, and personal injury advocacy, allowing him to assist clients with disputes that may involve courts, government entities, insurers, creditors, families, or business interests.
