At Hamline, Bob’s writing skills earned him a spot in the Hamline Law Review. He published articles and was the Operations Editor. The same year, he was admitted to the Minnesota Bar. He is qualified to practice in the U.S. District Court for Minnesota, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Federal Court of Claims. In 1986, Bob passed the Minnesota CPA exam. He believes in the dignity and potential of every person—and brings that same respect to juries, judges, and opposing counsel. This client-centered, empathetic approach has guided him through countless high-stakes cases, from DUI charges to complex murder trials, where he relentlessly fights for the best possible outcome for every client.

He made legal history by defending an attempted murder case. It resulted in a not guilty because of insanity verdict, a first in Minnesota in 17 years.

Bob’s impact extends beyond the courtroom. He played a key role in the historic preservation suit that saved The State Theatre, a pivotal moment for Minneapolis’s theater district. His dedication to justice and community improvement is clear, and it shows in every aspect of his career. He is now a respected figure in legal and local communities.
