About
Robert L. Richmond is the founder of Richmond & Quinn in Anchorage and maintains an active litigation practice throughout Alaska. His work concentrates on the defense of admiralty, aviation, and catastrophic injury cases. Robert represents aviation operators, product manufacturers, vessel owners, businesses, and other defendants in high-stakes civil matters. His practice reflects decades of trial experience in both Alaska’s metropolitan courts and remote communities where transportation, maritime, insurance law, and operational issues often shape the litigation.
Robert received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and his law degree from the University of Oregon. Between college and law school, he served in the United States Army. Earlier in life, he worked in remote Alaska locations as a commercial fisherman and in construction after graduating from Kodiak High School. That combination of Alaska work experience and legal education gives him practical familiarity with industries and operating environments that frequently appear in aviation, maritime, and serious injury disputes.
Robert has tried aviation wrongful death and personal injury claims for Alaska air carriers in Anchorage, Juneau, Kotzebue, Bethel, and other communities. He has represented fishing vessel owners, product manufacturers, and aviation businesses, and he served as lead counsel for the third mate of the EXXON VALDEZ in claims arising from the vessel’s grounding. His work has also included multidistrict aviation litigation, major trucking claims, and representation connected with well-known Alaska commercial aviation and fishing operations.
Robert L. Richmond is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Proctor in Admiralty, a Fellow of the American Bar Association, and a Senior Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America. He has taught trial practice through ABOTA programs and has received recognition from Best Lawyers and other legal publications. Robert’s practice combines extensive jury-trial experience with detailed knowledge of aviation, maritime operations, insurance defense, and catastrophic injury litigation in Alaska.
