Robert N. Grossbart is a seasoned Maryland attorney with over 33 years of legal experience, specializing in bankruptcy, mortgage litigation, and consumer rights. As a founding attorney at Grossbart, Portney & Rosenberg, he represents individuals and small businesses in Chapter 7, Chapter 13, and complex bankruptcy matters across the state.
Robert earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1986. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1984, following his completion of a B.S. at Towson University in 1980. This dual background in law and finance gives him a unique advantage when advising clients on debt relief and financial restructuring.
Over his distinguished career, Robert has handled a wide range of cases involving mortgage disputes, small business bankruptcies, and violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. His notable victories include published decisions in In re Raskin, In re Thomas, and In re Stine, reinforcing his reputation as a strategic and effective advocate.
Robert is admitted to practice before the Maryland State Bar, U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Robert also remains active in the legal community through memberships in the MSBA, ABA, NACBA, NACA, and the Maryland Consumer Bankruptcy Bar Association.
