Robert E. Craven

Robert E. Craven is an experienced Rhode Island trial attorney who has spent decades representing individuals in serious legal disputes. His work includes personal injury, criminal defense, DUI defense, and medical malpractice cases. He is known for strong courtroom advocacy and careful preparation when pursuing fair and practical results for clients.

Robert began building his academic foundation at the University of Rhode Island. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1978. Robert later continued his legal studies at New England School of Law. There, he completed his Juris Doctor in 1983 and prepared for a career focused on litigation, courtroom advocacy, and public service.

Robert has earned recognition within the legal community for his professional work and long-standing public service. His honors include RI Monthly’s “Professional Excellence in Law” Award Winner and recognition as a RI Super Lawyer 2013-2022. He is also Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rated and a Rhode Island Bar Foundation Fellow.

Robert began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island, serving from 1983 to 1992. During that period, he worked as a lead trial lawyer and Chief of the Public Corruptions Unit, gaining extensive courtroom experience while handling serious and complex criminal matters.

Robert later continued his public service in several municipal legal roles. He served as Town Solicitor in Foster, RI, and later as Assistant Solicitor for East Providence. He also became Town Solicitor in Charlestown, RI, and legal counsel for the Exeter-West Greenwich Regional School District in Rhode Island.

Robert has also shared his knowledge through teaching and community service. He served as an adjunct instructor at the Community College of Rhode Island, teaching law-related courses for many years. He also participates in legal clinics that provide free advice through the Rhode Island Volunteer Lawyers Program.

Robert E. Craven has also contributed to public leadership in Rhode Island. He served on the North Kingstown Town Council and was later elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives, representing District 32. Through legal work and legislative service, he continues helping individuals and communities address challenging legal issues.
