About

Robert Anthony Alvarez is a Michigan trial attorney and civil rights advocate focused on employment law, civil RICO, immigration and deportation defense, federal criminal defense, and general civil litigation. He co-founded his practice to stand with workers, immigrants, and underrepresented communities. His work includes class and collective actions, unpaid wage claims, federal litigation, and high-stakes disputes against powerful institutions, employers, and opposing counsel nationwide in court and appeals matters.

Alvarez earned his B.A. from Grand Valley State University. He earned his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is admitted in Michigan and multiple federal jurisdictions, including the United States Supreme Court. His education and admissions support a broad litigation practice involving federal courts, immigration issues, criminal defense, civil rights claims, employment disputes, appellate work, and complex cases requiring careful strategy and preparation for clients and communities.

Alvarez has more than two decades of courtroom experience. He has recovered millions in unpaid wages, represented plaintiffs in major class and collective actions, and won important decisions before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. His trial work includes defending federal labor trafficking claims and litigating a Hague Convention international child abduction case. He also advocates bilingually in English, Spanish, and some Brazilian Portuguese for clients in litigation settings.

Robert Anthony Alvarez helps people by protecting workers, immigrants, families, and vulnerable communities facing serious legal pressure. His background includes work with the Michigan Migrant Legal Assistance Project, leadership in civil rights litigation, and service as General Counsel to Latino Leaders for Enhancement and Development. Through mentoring, scholarships, internships, and community programs, he supports access to justice and opportunities for future Hispanic and immigrant lawyers entering legal practice.
