Robert A. Bernstein

Robert A. Bernstein is a highly experienced business lawyer who has practiced law in South Carolina since 1983. He is a partner at Bernstein & Bernstein, P.A., focusing on commercial and business litigation, collections, creditors’ rights, corporate law, bankruptcy, and general litigation. Over his long career, Robert has helped many clients navigate complex legal challenges, protect their business interests, and resolve disputes efficiently. He is admitted to practice before all South Carolina state and federal courts, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Robert earned his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1985, graduating cum laude, at the head of his class, and earning honors including membership in the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Wig and Robe. Before law school, he graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in 1980 and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

Robert, following law school, served as a judicial clerk for two years with the Honorable Clyde H. Hamilton, United States District Judge. He later practiced with a leading law firm in Columbia before returning to Charleston.

Robert has been active in the legal community throughout his career. He has served on ethics and practice committees for the South Carolina Bar and held leadership roles in the Commercial Law League of America, including chairing the Creditors’ Rights Section.

Robert A. Bernstein also regularly lectures on creditors’ rights to both legal professionals and the public. His dedication to client service and extensive experience in litigation and creditor matters have made him a trusted advocate for businesses and individuals throughout South Carolina.
