Richard S. Marks

Richard S. Marks is a Kent, Ohio family law attorney and co-founder of Marks & Chandler Co., L.P.A. with more than 30 years of experience focused exclusively on domestic relations matters. He represents clients in divorce, dissolution, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, retirement division, closely held business issues, prenuptial agreements, and post-decree modification and enforcement. His practice serves clients in Portage and Summit Counties facing significant family transitions and related legal decisions and needs.

Richard earned his J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science from The Ohio State University. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio. He co-founded a family law practice in Kent in 1995 and continued concentrating on domestic relations matters. His education and Ohio practice support his work involving complex financial, parenting, support, and property issues in family cases.

Richard helps clients address contested and uncontested family law matters involving children, finances, property, and post-decree obligations. He handles custody and parenting disputes, support questions, division of retirement benefits, closely held businesses, and enforcement or modification proceedings. He also advises clients regarding prenuptial agreements and divorce-related property concerns. Richard S. Marks has been selected as an Ohio Super Lawyer for eleven consecutive years from 2016 through 2026. He belongs to the Akron, Portage County, and Ohio State bar associations and previously chaired the Portage County Bar Association Domestic Relations Committee, reflecting sustained involvement in Ohio’s family law community.
