Richard Oberdorfer

Richard Oberdorfer is a senior attorney at Reynolds Defense Firm and one of Oregon’s most respected DUI defense lawyers. With more than 20 years of experience, he brings both courtroom skill and deep compassion to every case. Known for his calm demeanor and fierce advocacy, Richard has handled thousands of DUI cases and frequently trains other attorneys on Oregon’s evolving DUI laws. His unique blend of expertise and empathy makes him a trusted ally for clients facing legal challenges.

Richard earned his J.D., cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2001 after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon in 1996.

Early in his legal career, Richard defended clients in serious felony cases, including Measure 11 and homicide charges. He later focused his practice on DUI defense to better align his work with his core mission: helping good people navigate extremely difficult times. Richard has served as a judge in multiple jurisdictions and is a frequent speaker at continuing legal education (CLE) programs. A recognized authority in Oregon DUI defense, he has delivered more than 15 lectures, authored numerous publications, and is repeatedly cited in the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s DUII Notebook.

Richard is licensed to practice in all Oregon courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a long-standing member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and serves on its Legislative Committee.
