Richard Oberdorfer

Richard Oberdorfer is a senior attorney at Reynolds Defense Firm and one of Oregon’s most respected DUI defense lawyers. With more than 20 years of experience, he brings both courtroom skill and deep compassion to every case. Known for his calm demeanor and fierce advocacy, Richard has handled thousands of DUI cases and frequently trains other attorneys on Oregon’s evolving DUI laws. His unique blend of expertise and empathy makes him a trusted ally for clients facing legal challenges.

Richard earned his J.D., cum laude, from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2001 after completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Oregon in 1996.

Early in his career, Richard handled serious criminal defense cases, including Measure 11 and homicide matters, but soon transitioned to DUI defense to align his work with his personal mission—helping good people through difficult times. He has served as a judge in various jurisdictions and regularly presents at legal education events. His contributions to DUI defense scholarship include over 15 lectures and publications and multiple citations in the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s DUII Notebook.

Richard is licensed to practice in all Oregon courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, and the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a long-standing member of the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and serves on its Legislative Committee.
