Richard L. Alvidrez

Richard L. Alvidrez is a director at Miller Stratvert P.A. who advises clients on environmental, natural resources, public utility, administrative, and business law matters. He has more than 20 years of environmental law experience involving air quality, water quality, hazardous waste, petroleum storage tanks, and toxic substances. He represents businesses during state and federal enforcement proceedings, regulatory hearings, permitting matters, rulemaking, and complex toxic tort litigation. His broader work includes civil litigation, commercial disputes, employment matters, and environmental issues connected to real estate and business transactions.

Richard earned his B.A. in Commerce from Texas A&M University in 1980 after attending the University of Texas at El Paso. He received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1983. His business and legal education supports his analysis of regulatory obligations, operational risks, commercial decisions, and contested proceedings. He uses that foundation when he explains technical environmental requirements and develops practical compliance or litigation strategies.

Richard entered New Mexico practice in 1983. He is admitted before the US District Court for the District of New Mexico and the US Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He advises businesses and banking institutions on environmental policies, procedures, regulatory compliance, and transactional risks. He also represents clients before state agencies in permitting and rulemaking proceedings and defends them in state and federal courts.

Richard L. Alvidrez has earned recognition for his environmental and litigation work and has held significant professional and civic leadership roles. He became a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America in 2015 and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2016. He has served on New Mexico’s Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission and previously served on the State Bar’s Board of Bar Commissioners. His community leadership includes service as past chairman of the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce and on several business and nonprofit boards.
