Richard J. Serpe

Richard J. Serpe is the founder of the Law Offices of Richard J. Serpe, P.C., and a nationally respected personal injury attorney with over 37 years of legal experience. He concentrates his practice on cases involving serious injuries, dangerous products, maritime law, and child injury claims. Known for his strategic litigation approach and tireless client advocacy, Mr. Serpe has secured numerous high-value verdicts and settlements for clients across Virginia and beyond.

Mr. Serpe earned his J.D. from Tulane Law School in 1986 and an LL.M. in Maritime Law from Tulane Law School in 1991. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.

Mr. Serpe is often called upon to manage complex litigation involving scientific and medical evidence. He has overseen large case cohorts, including hundreds of neuropsychological evaluations to support brain injury claims. He has also served as lead counsel in historic cases, including the $2 million verdict—the largest in Virginia—for a child poisoned by lead. His experience extends to high-impact cases like Chinese drywall litigation and maritime injury under the Jones Act.

Admitted to practice in Virginia, Texas, and Louisiana, Richard J. Serpe has appeared before numerous state and federal courts, including the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Circuits. He holds Proctor status from the Maritime Law Association of the United States and maintains an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
