Richard Guerriero is a New Hampshire criminal defense lawyer and partner at Lothstein Guerriero, PLLC, with 40 years of trial experience. He is based in Keene and represents clients statewide in state and federal courts. His practice includes criminal cases, government investigations, difficult felony matters, and complex appeals. He has represented clients in New Hampshire trial courts, federal court, multiple appellate courts, and the United States Supreme Court.
Richard earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University in 1981, completing his undergraduate studies in three years and earning Phi Beta Kappa honors. He earned his J.D. from Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1984. During law school, his notes and articles were published in the school’s Law Review, reflecting strong legal research and writing skills.
Richard began his legal career as a law clerk to Justice James L. Dennis of the Supreme Court of Louisiana. He later practiced privately in Baton Rouge before moving to New Hampshire in 1994. From 2000 to 2012, he served as Litigation Director of the New Hampshire Public Defender, coordinating training and litigation support for more than 100 public defenders and 50 criminal contract attorneys.
Richard Guerriero has earned significant recognition for trial advocacy, service, and professional leadership. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and chairs its New Hampshire State Committee. He also served as President of the New Hampshire Bar Association and received its 2024 Award for Distinguished Service to the Legal Profession. Richard brings deep courtroom experience to criminal defense and appellate matters.
