Richard has handled cases in Massachusetts District Court, Land Court, Housing Court, Probate Court, Superior Court, the Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court, and the First Circuit.
Richard earned a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, where he graduated cum laude in the top five percent of his class. He also earned a B.S. in Mass Communication and Media Management with a minor in Marketing from Miami (Ohio) University in Oxford, Ohio.
Richard has built a career focused on solving complex property and housing problems. He has represented property owners, buyers, sellers, landlords, lenders, borrowers, and businesses in matters involving title defects, zoning appeals, conveyancing, foreclosure issues, and real estate contracts. He has also served as Of Counsel for a closing and settlement practice handling work for national, regional, and local lenders. His continuing legal education work has helped attorneys and real estate professionals follow best practices in residential conveyancing.
Richard D. Vetstein has helped clients protect ownership rights, defend property interests, resolve title disputes, and recover from real estate fraud. He served as lead counsel in challenges involving the Massachusetts COVID-19 eviction moratorium and has supported rental housing providers through advocacy and testimony. In another major matter, Richard represented victims of a sophisticated forgery scheme that led to criminal charges and title insurance claims designed to restore ownership. His work reflects practical judgment, preparation, and strong client advocacy in real estate law.
