Richard D. Shure

Richard D. Shure is Of Counsel at Portner & Shure. He represents injured clients in personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, and workers’ compensation. He has been licensed to practice in Maryland since 1991 and in Virginia since 1995.

Richard graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. and was a three-time ACC All Academic student. He later earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, District of Columbia. His education helped prepare him for work in personal injury and health care matters.

Richard worked briefly at one of Baltimore’s largest law firms before serving as in-house counsel for a national health care corporation. He has used his knowledge of the healthcare industry to help persuade insurance companies to provide injured clients with the benefits they are entitled to.

Richard successfully negotiates millions of dollars in claims each year. He believes each client should understand every part of the case. For that reason, many initial client meetings at Portner & Shure are handled by him with patience, care, and clear legal guidance.

Richard’s approach is to avoid shortcuts and push aggressively on automobile accident and medical malpractice claims. He works on and analyzes potential damage recoveries in the Firm’s big injury cases. His analysis has helped the Firm obtain three separate awards of approximately one million dollars.

Richard remains on the board of a national health care corporation. Portner & Shure is now part of the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a group limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and includes fewer than 1% of all U.S. lawyers.

Richard D. Shure is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, The Virginia State and Federal Bar Associations, and the Maryland Terrapin Club. Through Portner & Shure, he continues to represent injured clients in personal injury, auto accident, workers’ compensation, and medical malpractice cases.
