Richard C. Gilmore is a seasoned intellectual property attorney and Partner whose practice centers on patent and trademark prosecution, both domestically and internationally. He advises clients ranging from startups to global corporations, offering strategic counsel on portfolio development, licensing, and intellectual property management across multiple industries.
Richard earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Utah in 1990, followed by his Juris Doctor from the University of Utah’s S. J. Quinney College of Law in 1993. His technical background allows him to bridge complex engineering concepts with practical legal strategy, providing clients with precise, technically informed patent and trademark protection.
Throughout his distinguished career, Richard has represented clients in preparing patent and trademark applications, appeals before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and reexamination proceedings. He frequently collaborates with in-house counsel to maintain worldwide intellectual property portfolios and offers guidance on post-issuance and inter partes matters.
In addition to his legal practice, Richard is an active educator and speaker on intellectual property law.
