Richard A. DeWitt

Richard A. DeWitt is a highly skilled attorney who has practiced law in Omaha since 1975. His work spans estate planning, taxation, business and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation. With extensive experience in guiding business owners and boards through complex deals, he provides valuable legal counsel in matters involving corporate structure, executive compensation, and dispute resolution.

Richard earned his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Michigan State University in 1972. He then received his Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in 1975. Admitted to the Nebraska Bar the same year, he is also licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska and the U.S. Tax Court.

Richard focuses his practice on corporate law and securities, with significant experience guiding ESOP-owned companies through complex acquisitions. Richard played a key role in landmark environmental litigation under the Clean Water Act. He was part of a legal team that successfully stopped untreated industrial wastewater discharge into the Missouri River. Although a related class action suit was not certified, his work led to significant soil testing and contributed to a major EPA cleanup that reduced lead exposure for children in northeast Omaha.
