Ricardo Palacios

Ricardo Palacios is a founding partner of Palacios, Garza & Thompson, P.C., where he provides experienced representation in criminal defense, civil litigation, personal injury, and governmental law across South Texas. With over two decades of legal experience, he is known for his strong advocacy, extensive courtroom background, and dedication to achieving just results for his clients.

Ricardo began his academic journey at the University of Texas Pan American, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1994. He went on to receive his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Southern University–Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1998 and was licensed to practice law shortly thereafter. His legal career began in 1999 as an Assistant District Attorney for Hidalgo County, where he prosecuted a wide range of criminal cases and served as Chief Felony Prosecutor for the 92nd State Judicial District Court of Texas. During this time, he fulfilled his goal of practicing before every state district and county court judge in Hidalgo County.

In 2002, Ricardo founded Palacios & Associates, P.C., handling criminal defense, personal injury, and family law matters throughout the Rio Grande Valley. His experience and leadership led to his appointment as General Counsel for the City of Palmview and City of Edinburg, as well as advisory roles for several other municipalities and county entities. In 2014, he co-founded Palacios, Garza & Thompson, P.C., a firm now recognized for defending complex civil and criminal cases, including medical malpractice, employment law, and governmental litigation.
