About

Rhonda F. Butterfield is a partner with Family Law Center for Men in Anchorage and has practiced law in Alaska since 1977. Her private practice focuses on family law, including divorce, child custody, child support, settlements, administrative matters, trials, and appeals. Rhonda represents husbands and fathers and brings decades of Alaska courtroom and government experience to disputes involving parenting, finances, support obligations, and the long-term consequences of family law decisions.

Rhonda earned a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1976, where she served on the staff of the Criminal Law Review. She received a B.A. from the State University of New York at Brockport in 1972, magna cum laude, with a double major in Political Science and Pre-law. After graduation, she came to Alaska for an internship with Alaska Supreme Court Justice Jay A. Rabinowitz, beginning a legal career centered on Alaska courts and public service.

Rhonda served as an Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Attorney General, prosecuting criminal cases and handling extensive trial and appellate work. She later represented Alaska’s Child Support Enforcement Division, developing substantial experience with child support law and administration. Since entering private practice, she has focused on family law matters and has handled numerous appeals involving custody, property division, support, domestic violence, and interstate issues. Her profile identifies more than four decades of experience in the Alaska court system.

Rhonda F. Butterfield serves on the Family Law Committee of the Alaska Bar Association and has provided pro bono assistance to veterans and low-income child-support obligors through Alaska Legal Services Corporation. Her background as a prosecutor, state attorney, appellate advocate, and family lawyer gives her a broad view of Alaska procedure and family-law enforcement. Rhonda combines detailed legal preparation with practical knowledge of trials and appeals to help clients address difficult family disputes and changing support or custody obligations.
