Reams Goodloe is an intellectual property attorney with more than thirty years of experience advising inventors, entrepreneurs, and businesses on protecting and commercializing innovation. His practice centers on patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, and strategic intellectual property development that supports long-term business growth and competitive advantage.
Reams earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law. His technical education provides a strong foundation for advising clients across complex engineering and scientific disciplines, enabling precise analysis of inventions and effective communication with patent examiners and technical stakeholders.
Throughout his career, Reams has drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications across a wide range of technologies, including chemical and mechanical systems, medical and dental devices, water treatment technologies, and electromechanical equipment. He also represents clients in trademark matters and patent portfolio management, helping position intellectual property for licensing, mergers, and acquisitions.
Reams brings a unique perspective shaped by experience as both in-house and outside counsel. He has negotiated and drafted complex, multi-million-dollar equipment supply agreements, technology development agreements, joint ventures, and licensing arrangements involving patented, copyrighted, and trade secret technologies, providing clients with practical, risk-focused legal guidance.
Reams’ work has included international intellectual property and transactional matters, often coordinating with foreign counsel and addressing cross-border regulatory, warranty, indemnity, and risk-allocation issues. He has appeared before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and participated in proceedings before international patent authorities, including in China and Europe.
Licensed to practice in Washington state and federal courts, the Ninth and Federal Circuits, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Reams Goodloe is known for strategic insight, technical depth, and an ability to guide clients through complex intellectual property challenges with clarity and efficiency.
